Tango Santo presents the music video for "Dubango".

 "Dubango" is the first music video taken from the album Puro Bailongo (Tango Electro Tribal) by Tango Santo. It was directed by Luis Sosa Arroyo and shows tango dancers Omar Mamani and Andrea Hammerschmidt performing a dance rutine on top of a tiny chair.

“The Kavanaghs” – The Kavanaghs

Auspicioso debut de este cuarteto rosarino de power pop con marcadas reminiscencias sixties.



Tiene nombre en inglés, canta en el idioma de Shakespeare, pero The Kavanaghs es, en verdad, una banda argentina oriunda de la ciudad de Rosario. Sí, más rosarino que el propio Monumento a la Bandera, este cuarteto se erige como una verdadera sorpresa de fin de año, plegándose a la movida del retro rock pero desde una mirada actual y contundentemente power pop.

Transitando un sendero similar al de The Draytones (otra banda liderada por un argentino que interpreta sus temas en inglés y con el resto de la formación británica), The Kavanaghs abreva también en la influencia notable y respeta a rajatabla la estructura rítmica e instrumental del rock inglés de los sesentas (The Beatles, Beach Boys, Kinks, los primeros Bee Gees) aunque despegándose del mero tributo, la burda clonación y del trillado perfil nostálgico al vestir a sus composiciones con una sonoridad contemporánea, bien rockera y que mira hacia delante, tal como demuestran en “All the time” y especialmente en “Cat in town”, donde las guitarras destilan crudeza, desprolijidad y suciedad callejera.

En poco más de 35 minutos y a lo largo de 11 tracks, la banda despliega un amplio abanico que hace escala en el pop a lo McCartney (“Friday on my mind”), el rock (“The wrong side of the way”), la balada (“You know”) y en ciertos soplos bluseros, jazzeros y abolerados (“Surreal”) que evidencian una atractiva variedad estilística y unos deseos de experimentar sin límites.

La propuesta de The Kavanaghs parte de la típica formación de dos guitarras, bajo, batería y muy cuidadas voces pero se enriquece con el aporte de una sección de vientos, acordeones, piano y ukelele, que buscan captar la atención del público local luego de una muy festejada gira por el Reino Unido en la que se presentaron en escenarios de Liverpool y Londres, ganando una enorme experiencia.

Con relatos basados esencialmente en historias de amor y desamor, como en la bella “Goodbye Chris” con sus reminiscencias a Brian Wilson, el álbum alcanza quizás su punto más alto en la pegadiza “English town, english people”, un retrato un tanto humorístico de la vida cotidiana de los británicos vista por los ojos de un visitante argentino y que recuerda a la lírica descriptiva del propio Ray Davies (The Kinks). El dato insólito en este tema es la inclusión de un solo de bandoneón, recurso que funciona como guiño para que no queden dudas de que, en el fondo y más allá de cantar en inglés, se trata de una agrupación ciento por ciento argentina.

Con un pie en los sesentas y otro en el presente, The Kavanaghs asoma como una banda para prestarle mucha atención, tanto por la habilidad de su bajista y compositor principal, Tiago Galíndez (un melodista nato), como por contar con el tesoro más preciado que toda banda anhela: la abundancia de buenas canciones. Y The Kavanaghs las tiene.

Eternal Sunday at BAFIM 2009

Eternal Sunday will have a booth at BAFIM 2009, the music convention held in Buenos Aires.

BAFIM stands for Buenos Aires feria internacional de la música (Buenos Aires international music fair or convention). The 2009 edition will take place at the Costa Salguero complex from November 19 to 22. The convention is a business center and hundred of international visitors are expected.

Eternal Sunday will have the booth 114 and The Kavanaghs will perform live at 15:30 on Sunday 22, at the A Stage (escenario A).

The Kavanaghs back from their UK tour

A sucessful UK tour The Kavanaghs.

The Argentinean powerpop/ retro rock band The Kavanaghs toured the UK in August and September, 2009. These are the most important issues about their tour.

· They played 6 shows at the Beatle week in Liverpool, at the mythical Cavern Club, the Cavern Pub and other locations.

· Most bands that perform at the Beatle week cover the Beatles repertoire. However, The Kavanaghs played their own songs plus some covers of their favorite bands (Beatles, Badfinger, Beach Boys, etc.).

· The Kavanaghs' debut album is for sale at most powerpop specialized online stores (Kool Kat, Dreamscape, Not Lame, Powerpop Academy Japan), and most of them recommended the album because of its quality. This resulted in many CD's sold, so some of the public already owned the CD and sung the songs along with the band.

· To have an English audience, in England, singing along to original songs in English performed by an Argentinean band is unheard of. This confirms that Eternal Sunday objectives of exporting local pop music sung in English are realistic.

· The Kavanaghs had different business meetings with labels and agencies. They were invited by EMI/ Parlophone to the private showcase and announcement of the remastered Beatles catalog in Liverpool, they were at Abbey Road studios and in other labels.

· They met several personalities, among them Giles Martin (The Beatles' producer George Martin's son, that remixed the album Love for the Cirque de Soleil), Sir Peter Blake, who designed the famous cover for the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and with the Beatles performer Jan Britten Owen, "El Maestro", who knew the band for having shared the stage at the Cavern Club, Buenos Aires. However the most meaningful meeting was with Brian Wilson, the main composer for the Beach Boys, who was touring the UK at the time, who left his hotel room and kindly went to say hi to The Kavanaghs and thanked them for their CD. Tiago Galíndez, the Kavanaghs composer, is a huge fan of the Beach Boys and considers Pet Sound the best album of all times.

· After leaving Liverpool (not without taking pictures at all the meaningful places in Beatle history like George Harrison's house, Penny Lane, etc.) The Kavanaghs went to London where they shot some film for the music video for the song "Hyde Park" and met with music executives.

· In London they performed twice, being the most important show the benefit A Perfect Day that was presented by the actress Helena Bonham Carter, (wife of Tim Burton and actress of the Harry Potter saga among many other films). The Kavanaghs wrote the song theme for the festival called "Let Love Go All The Way (A Perfect Day)".

La banda powerpop/ retro rock argentina The Kavanaghs estuvo de gira por Inglaterra en agosto y septiembre de 2009. Estos son los puntos sobresalientes:



· Realizaron 6 conciertos en el marco de la semana Beatle (Beatle Week) en Liverpool, en el mítico Cavern Club (réplica del club en el cual los Beatles comenzaron su carrera), el Cavern Pub y otras locaciones.

· La mayor parte de las bandas que participan de la Beatle Week son bandas que cubren el repertorio de The Beatles. The Kavanaghs participó con su propio repertorio, al que le sumaron algunas canciones de sus bandas favoritas (Beatles, Badfinger, Beach Boys, etc.).

· El álbum debut de The Kavanaghs está en venta en las principales tiendas online especializadas en powerpop, (Kool Kat, Dreamscape, Not Lame, Powerpop Academy Japan), y la mayor parte de las tiendas destacó el álbum por su calidad. Esto hizo que el álbum se vendiera razonablemente bien en formato CD y en formato digital en las primeras semanas, con lo cual parte del público ya conocía las canciones de la banda y las coreaba en vivo.

· Que un público ingles coree canciones originales de una banda argentina que está tocando en inglés en Inglaterra es un hecho inédito (y confirma que los objetivos de Eternal Sunday de exportar música local en inglés son realistas).

· The Kavanaghs tuvieron diferentes encuentros de negocios con sellos y productoras ingleses. Fueron invitados por la gente de EMI/ Parlophone al evento privado de lanzamiento que se realizó en Liverpool de los CD's remasterizados de The Beatles, estuvieron en Abbey Road Studios y en la sede de varios sellos importantes.

· En la gira se encontraron con varias personalidades, entre ellas Giles Martin, el hijo de (el productor de los Beatles) George Martin, quien realizó las mezclas de Love, el álbum de The Beatles para el espectáculo del Cirque De Soleil; con Sir Peter Blake, quien diseñó la famosa portada del álbum Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band de The Beatles; con el famoso performer Beatle Jan Brittens Owen, "el maestro", quien conocía a la banda por haber compartido el escenario en Cavern Club de Buenos Aires. Sin embargo el encuentro que más emocionó a la banda fue con Brian Wilson, el compositor de The Beach Boys, quien estaba en gira por Inglaterra con su banda y bajó del cuarto del hotel a saludar a The Kavanaghs y a aceptar de regalo el CD de la banda. Tiago, el compositor de The Kavanaghs, es un acérrimo fan de Beach Boys y considera que el mejor álbum pop de la historia es Pet Sounds.

· Después de Liverpool y de sacarse fotos en todos los lugares emblemáticos para los fans de The Beatles (la ex casa de George Harrison, la calle Penny Lane, etc.) The Kavanaghs viajaron a Londres, donde filmaron material para su segundo videoclip, "Hyde Park", y mantuvieron reuniones con sellos y productoras.

· En Londres realizaron dos shows, siendo el más importante que encabezaron el festival a beneficio A Perfect Day, que fue presentado por la actriz Helena Bonham Carter (esposa del director Tim Burton y actriz de la saga de Harry Potter entre muchas otras cosas). The Kavanaghs también compusieron y grabaron la canción tema del festival "Let Love Go All The Way".

ES 2216 Demarco Electronic Project: Retrovision [English]

An electronic music concept album by the techno twins

Eternal Sunday presents an electronic music masterpiece: the much anticipated Retrovision, the album composed and produced by Luis & Héctor Agüero, Argentina's techno twins, Demarco Electronic Project. This was an album announced several times that finally sees the light.

In general, electronic albums are made with the intention of filling the dancefloor. Retrovision does that, of course, but it is much more than a floor-filling collection of tracks. First, it is an introduction to electronic music to those who are not familiar with it. Second, it is a homage to the different tendencies and styles that appeared in the last two decades, from Italo disco from the 80's to deep house, not forgetting 90's techno music and modern house music with an electro flavour. Third, the album is a description of a journey, or a description of many journeys: from the country to the city (Luis & Héctor were born in a rural district and moved to Buenos Aires), from amateurism to professionalism, from playing for a few friends to being well known in the international electronic music market after having released many chart topping tracks and remixes.

These journeys are represented in the beautiful album cover, that shows a city seen from a car that arrives to it from a highway, while in the rear view mirror we see the countryside left behind. This retro vision in present in Retrovision, this innovative and different electronic album by Demarco Electronic Project that fills the listener with emotions and surprise.

Demarco Electronic Proeject presenta Retrovision. La obra conceptual electrónica de los gemelos techno.

Eternal Sunday presenta una joya de la música electrónica: el muy esperado Retrovision, el álbum de Luis y Héctor Agüero, los gemelos techno, Demarco Electronic Project, anunciado varias veces y siempre demorado por diferentes razones.

Por lo general los álbumes de música electrónica tienen como simple finalidad llenar la pista de baile. Retrovision cumple, y con creces, este requisito, pero es a su vez mucho más. En primer lugar, es una introducción a la música electrónica para aquellos que no está familiarizados con el estilo. En segundo lugar, es un homenaje a las distintas tendencias y estilos que han ido surgiendo en las últimas dos décadas, desde el Ítalo reto de los años '80 hasta el deep house, pasando por el techno de los años '90 y por el house con toques electro. Por último, es una descripción de un viaje, o de los muchos viajes que la misma banda ha realizado: del campo a la ciudad (Luis y Héctor son oriundos de la localidad de Maipú, en la provincia de Buenos Aires, zona de campos, y viven en la ciudad de Buenos Aires), del amateurismo al profesionalismo, de tocar para pocos amigos a ser considerablemente conocidos en el ámbito de la música electrónica mundial, habiendo figurado en incontables charts con sus temas y remixes.

Estos viajes están representados en la hermosa y simbólica cubierta del álbum, que muestra una ciudad desde adentro de un automóvil que arriba a ella por una autopista, mientras en el espejo retrovisor se ve el tranquilo campo que los mellizos dejaron atrás. Esta retrovisión está presente constantemente en Retrovision, este disco innovador y diferente de Demarco Electronic Project que sorprende por sus contrastes.

The Argentinean band The Kavanaghs will tour the UK in August and September, 2009. The first shows will take place at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, during the Beatle Week. After that they'll perform in different places across the country, being the most important their presentation at the A Perfect Day festival. The Kavanaghs not only were invited to perform, they wrote and recerded the theme song for the festival called "Let Love Go All The Way (A Perfect Day)".
